Digital Rights Management

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is the system of controlling the use of software so that it is only able to be used as intended by the publisher. This means that content providers can feel safe to distribute their software and prevent illegal use and piracy of unprotected software.

Softwrap’s DRM system enables the protection of software so that it can be distributed either in a "buy and then use" or "try-before-you-buy" format. If an end user purchases and then choose to pass the software onto others, the software will automatically revert back to the pre-purchased format requiring the end user to either purchase before use or allowing the end user a trial period before they have to purchase to continue using the software. This creates additional or viral sales without further distribution or marketing costs.

Backing up electronically distributed software (ESD) is always a concern to both content providers and end-users. The Softwrap technology allows storage of backup versions on either physical drives or other media types. These can then be re-installed and re-licensed by the purchaser with ease.

The flexibility of the solution allows software to be protected and distributed by both digital download and CD/DVD media.
